Monsoon session of Parliament will start from July 19

The monsoon session of the 17th Lok Sabha will begin on July 19 and end on August 13. Around 20 sittings are likely to be held in this session. The monsoon season usually begins in the third week of July and ends before Independence Day.

All COVID related protocols are expected to be followed inside the Parliament premises during the session. As of June 19, more than 400 Lok Sabha members have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, an office-bearer of Parliament said. The official said the actual figure could be higher as most MPs have taken the vaccine in their respective states.

Journalists covering Lok Sabha are also being provided vaccination facility by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. During the last few sessions, while the Rajya Sabha held from 9 am to 1 pm and at times till 2 pm, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha began at 4 pm.

This was done to ensure distancing norms as part of proper handling of Covid. But during the second part of the budget session in March, both the houses resumed their normal timings at 11 am.
