In a statement, Mirwaiz said extreme laws are being introduced day by day to further curb the freedom of the people and silence them for fear of reprisal.
“Sudden dismissal of government employees without any investigation, or giving opportunity of being heard, is part of this policy as the ruling government has dismissed six more government employees,” the Mirwaiz said in the statement.
The officials have so far dismissed two dozen government employees on charges of being linked to terrorist activities or having links with Jamiat-e-Islamia, the statement said.
The APHC chairman further said that such an authoritarian approach would only lead to more discontent and anger.
“Continuous raids by government agencies on organizations and houses of people and slapping of PSA and other harsh laws on them, lifting of youths, their arbitrary arrests and constant surveillance of people continues as state policy in J&K because Number Kashmir is There was a further boom in prisons and detention centers. Thousands, including political leaders and activists, have been jailed for years without any remedy. The Chairman of the APHC himself has been arbitrarily placed under house arrest for the last twenty-six months,” the statement said.
It quoted the Mirwaiz as saying that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is tense and people, especially the youth, are feeling suffocated, which can have dire consequences.
