Thane: Police arrested a 19-year-old man and recovered mephedrone powder worth Rs 18.94 lakh from him. Mira Road in railway station Maharashtraof Thane district, an official said on Wednesday.
The officials of Anti Narcotics Cell of Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar Police have arrested the accused, identified as Sadak Rashid Ansari, a resident of Nalasopara in the neighborhood. Palghar district, on Tuesday, DCP (crime) Mahesh Patil said.
“Acting on a tip-off, the team of officers laid a trap near Mira Road railway station and seized Mephedrone (MD) powder weighing 378.8 grams from it,” he said.
An offense was registered against him under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.NDPS) Act at Mira Road’s Naya Nagar police station, Patil said, adding that the investigation into the matter was on.
