MiG-21 has fallen near the Indo-Pak border. As soon as Vimag fell, it caught fire.

A MiG-21 fighter plane of the Indian Air Force crashed near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan on Friday evening. There is news of the death of the pilot in this accident. According to sources, the place where the jet fell is in Sudasari Desert National Park and near the Pakistan border. This area is under the control of the Army. That’s why no one is being allowed to go there.

The plane crashed around 8:30. Its pilots were on their regular flight. The accident site is about 70 km from Jaisalmer. Police and fire brigade have reached the spot.

The accident happened in August also.
Earlier in August 2021, a MiG-21 aircraft crashed in Barmer. It was on a fighter jet training flight. After take-off, there was a technical fault in it and the plane fell on a hut. The pilot had ejected himself before the plane crashed.

India is the largest operator of MiG-21s after Russia and China
India is the third largest operator of MiG-21s after Russia and China. In 1964, this aircraft was inducted into the Air Force as the first supersonic fighter jet. The initial jets were made in Russia and then India acquired the rights and technology to assemble this aircraft.

Since then, the MiG-21 has played an important role on several occasions including the Indo-Pak war of 1971, Kargil war of 1999. Russia stopped manufacturing this aircraft in 1985, but India has been using its upgraded variant.
