Michael Vaughan vs Wasim Jaffer on England’s Ashes collapse

Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer are in it again. The former cricketer engaged in a funny Twitter joke after England lost the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia by 146 runs. Both have often been entertaining fans with their back-ends on social media.

Minutes after Joe Root and co. Bundled for a modest 124 in Hobart, Jaffer trolled Vaughan with a Bollywood-inspired meme after England’s defeat.

The former England cricketer turned commentator replied to Jaffer’s tweet saying that it has been a long day. “Evening, Wasim, it’s been a long day,” replied Vaughan.

Vaughan teased Jaffer on Friday last week after Team India suffered a seven-wicket loss against South Africa in the third and final Test in Cape Town. Vaughan took a jibe at Jaffer and asked him if he was okay after Virat Kohli & Co lost to Proteas.

The fast-paced former India opener got the perfect response. He reminded Vaughan that India were still leading in the five-match Test series that was reduced to four matches against England last year.

“Haha all good Michael, don’t forget we’re still leading you 2-1,” Jaffer replied.

Return to the Ashes. Vaughan was critical of England’s batting performance in the final of the Ashes as they could only manage scores of 188 and 124. In a series of tweets, he suggested that losing the match was acceptable, but going down without a fight was not.

The 47-year-old tweeted, “You can face defeat, but not when you throw in the towel.”

“Nothing like being consistent, 2021 was a year of batting collapse. Took it to 2022,” he wrote while firing another salvo directed at England’s batsmen.

Australian captain Pat Cummins made a great start to his captaincy. He took three wickets each with seamers Scott Boland and Cameron Green to win the fifth and final Ashes Test in Hobart by 146 runs within three days to seal the series 4–0.
