New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the demonetisation of Rs 2,000 notes. However, these notes will remain valid till September 30, according to RBI. As part of its “Clean Note Policy”, RBI has decided to remove ₹2000 denomination bank notes from circulation. Banks will offer deposit and/or exchange services for ₹2000 banknotes till September 30, 2023, to give the public enough time to complete the process.
RBI has requested banks to facilitate deposit and exchange of Rs 2000 notes by September 30, 2023. In the statement, the RBI clarified that the facility to exchange Rs 2000 bank notes will be available from May 23. From May 23, 2023, can be issued in any bank up to a limit of Rs 20,000 at a time. The Reserve Bank of India has advised banks to stop issuing bank notes in the denomination of Rs 2,000 with immediate effect, though the Rs 2,000 denomination bank notes will continue to be legal tender. , After denominations, RBI introduces Rs 2000 notes On September 8, 2016, the central government banned old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes with an aim to curb black money.
