Meghalaya opposition leader Sangma says problems should be resolved within four walls of Congress party

Putting to rest all speculations, former Meghalaya Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma said on Thursday that he will soon talk to the Congress high command and resolve the issues within the party’s wall. Addressing media persons, Sangma said that his focus is to ensure that necessary reforms are carried out regarding internal matters within the party.

Following “apparent differences” that surfaced after Shillong MP Vincent H Pala took over as Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president, speculation is rife that the Congress Legislature Party leader is likely to join other political parties. .

There are reports which also suggest that Sangma is also looking to form a new regional political party.

The former chief minister said, ‘Yesterday I had come to Shillong. I was reading the news (related to speculation) but consciously liked that I wanted to be inaccessible because I wanted to talk to the leaders in Delhi I need to talk to. I don’t want to talk to anyone else.”

“I will push for reforms at the appropriate level within the four walls of my party, that is what I will do,” he said.

Refusing to elaborate on the “issues”, Sangma said, “I have made sure that when you want to resolve things, you have to make sure that sometimes you are outside the four walls of those issues. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to solve them.”

When asked when the AICC is likely to call him to Delhi, the Leader of Opposition said, “It is not going to be a one-sided exercise. Actually, I am not picking up the phone but today I started picking up the phone because sometimes it is better to remain silent. I think silence sometimes speaks louder than words.”

The CLP leader, mainly with MLAs from the Garo Hills region, skipped two important events organized by the MPCC, which included the joining of former Congress leaders – RG Lyngdoh and PN Siem – and felicitation of Pala as the new MPCC chief.

Speaking on the occasion, Pala even said that Sangma was not happy with him.

Is there any truth to this, the former chief minister said, “If I tell you now, if I answer this question I will be distracted by the way I look at things and the way I solve issues.” I will be. Issue within the party.

If he will meet the new MPCC president, Sangma said, “I have made it very clear that I have to talk to the right people within the party, we have our own built-in system and I will invoke it and I will do whatever is right.” To do it, press for it.”

He also declined to comment on the allegation that Pala is very interested in working closely with the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) to form a new government in 2023.

“I will not comment on how he (Pala) works…every person has his own way of doing things. Now clearly people know how I handle things, how do I deal with issues so people know other politicians as well, people know and they will know more about them so that won’t be something I want to elaborate on. I am ready and then you have to ask them. Sangma said.
