Civil Services Exam is one of the toughest exams in India.

Every year, we read and hear success stories of people who have cracked the UPSC exam against all odds and in spite of tremendous hardships.

One such story is of IAS officer Saurabh Swami. The story of Saurabh, born on 1 December 1989, is very inspiring. He was born in a middle-class family in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana and his father used to sell sweets at Rohtak Chowk. His son was very good at studies from a young age and made it a mission to improve the financial condition of his family. Saurabh completed his 12th standard from APJ School, Charkhi Dadri.

He pursued Electronics and Communication Engineering at Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, New Delhi. After completing B.Tech, he got a job in Bangalore. While working in Bangalore, Saurabh started studying for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination. After clearing the prelims, Saurabh met with a horrific accident and was advised complete bed rest for three months. During this period he showed tremendous mental fortitude and prepared for the UPSC Mains exam. The fact that Saurabh cleared the exam in his first attempt and secured 149 rank speaks a lot about his spirit and dedication. Saurabh not only cleared one stage of UPSC but also cleared preliminary, mains and then interview round with good marks.

Though many people prepare for UPSC exam with dedication, some give up after initial failure and some remain firm in their goal. The story of Saurabh Swami is one of perseverance and faith.

Saurabh proved that we can make all our dreams come true if we work hard. Today Saurabh Swami is posted as District Collector and District Magistrate in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan.
