Matthew Wade faces questions over prospect of working with Justin Langer in Hurricane

Hobart Hurricanes captain Matthew Wade was in the dark regarding the appointment of Ricky Ponting as head of strategy and is now clearing questions about Justin Langer becoming the franchise’s head coach.

Ponting considers Langer a perfect fit for the vacant head coach position and has revealed for a few days that he is discussing the issue with his former teammate.

Wade, who was in Kandy, Sri Lanka, for the white-ball series, however, was happy with Ponting’s appointment.

Wade was part of the Australia national team, which expressed dissatisfaction with Langer’s “intense” working style, which resulted in the coach being offered a six-month extension. Cricket Australia, which he rejected.

Now with the prospect of working under Langer looming, Wade is faced with questions over Langer’s “profound” methodology and its effect on the storm.

“That’s the reaction JL got when he was with the Aussies,” Wade told reporters when asked about his former coach.

“Whether that coaching style has changed or not will change in the next period, the proof will be in the pudding.

“It is difficult to comment on what may or may not happen or what coaching style Justin may bring to whichever team he ends up coaching. A report in cricket.com.au quoted him as saying Was done I really can’t give too much instruction.

Langer, who said he was “angry” and “very hurt by the media” throughout the contract saga, has recently indicated that it may be too early for him to return to coaching. He is currently writing his memoirs.

“I just wonder if it’s time for a new chapter and something more,” Langer said in an interview. “I love the game of cricket, but I’m excited to see what opportunities lie ahead.”
