Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to have a bowl first against Chennai Super Kings and struck early to remove Ajinkya Rahane early in the innings, but a calculated fifty from skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who made 69 runs off 40 deliveries, and another half-century from Shivam Dube, who added 66 off just 38 deliveries helped Chennai steady their innings.

MI were off to a flier as openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan made 70 runs off the opening 7 overs, but following the dismissal of Kishan, the MI batting order crumbled.
