Manipur Horror: Two people including main accused arrested, says CM N Biren Singh

Manipur violence: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the second accused in connection with the horrific video of two Kuki women being paraded naked by a mob in Manipur was arrested on Thursday.

Addressing the media, the Manipur CM said, “Yesterday one was arrested and recently I came to know that now one more has also been arrested.” The inquiry is on. The State Police has arrested the suspected main culprit and those involved have also been arrested and will be booked as per law.

“Suddenly a video clip went viral across the country. It was really shocking and after watching the viral video today all the MLAs of the ruling party condemn this heinous crime,” said Singh.

The Manipur CM also reiterated that the state government would do everything possible to get the accused punished.

Earlier, the Center on Thursday directed Twitter and other social media platforms to remove a two-month-old video of two women from Manipur who were being paraded naked and gang-raped. The matter is under investigation.

According to sources, the government has asked all Indian social media platforms to follow Indian laws. The order was passed after a two-month-old video of the Manipur women went viral, triggering shock and outrage among people.

“The government has issued an order to Twitter and other social media platforms, directing them not to share the viral video of two Manipuri women being paraded naked. It is mandatory for social media platforms to comply with Indian laws as the matter is currently under investigation,” he said.

However, in a very disturbing incident from Manipur, two women were subjected to a horrific act of violence. She was allegedly paraded naked on the street by a group of men. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with calls for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and dignity of all individuals.

This horrifying video, which is being widely shared on social media, caught the attention of the entire nation on Wednesday evening.

Manipur Police said that a case of gang rape and murder has been registered in this matter.

On Wednesday, the Manipur Police also tweeted, “In connection with the viral video of two women being paraded naked by unidentified armed miscreants on May 4, a case of kidnapping, gangrape and murder was registered at Nongpok Sekmai Police Station (Thoubal District)… Investigation has begun. The state police is making all out efforts to arrest the culprits at the earliest.”
