After the split in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra, 7 NCP MLAs in Nagaland have gone to the Ajit Pawar faction. National Spokesperson of NCP Ajit Pawar faction Brajmohan Srivastava told that Nagaland State President Vanthung Odio came to Delhi and met National Working President Praful Patel and Maharashtra President Sunil Tatkare. He informed about the decision of Nagaland NCP. Odio also submitted affidavits of support to all office bearers including 7 MLAs. Party’s state office bearers will also support Ajit Pawar.

On this, Praful Patel assured that he would cooperate with him in his efforts to strengthen the party. Patel has also directed the state executive and district unit of Nagaland to continue working as before.

Nagaland NCP’s Brajmohan Srivastava said in a press release – Nagaland Nationalist Party’s entire state executive and office bearers of the districts have decided after a thorough discussion that they will work under the leadership of NCP National President Ajit Pawar and National Working President Praful Patel. Nagaland NCP president Wanthung Odio was asked to inform the national leadership about the decision.

There was a split in the party on July 2.
On July 2, Ajit Pawar rebelled against uncle Sharad Pawar. Ajit joined the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction)-BJP government along with eight NCP MLAs. He has been made deputy CM. With this step of Ajit Pawar, NCP got divided into two factions.

Ajit Pawar held his first press conference as soon as he became deputy CM. In this he said that the name and election symbol of the NCP party will remain with us. Along with this, Ajit Pawar threw light on Sharad Pawar’s Nagaland model. He said that earlier NCP had 7 MLAs in Nagaland and on the decision of the party all the MLAs went with BJP. Similarly why can’t NCP go with BJP for the development of Maharashtra state?
