Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan to release in five languages ​​on September 30

The first part of director Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited historical film Ponniyin Selvan is set to hit the big screens on September 30 this year, its makers Lyca Productions announced on Wednesday. Congratulating its chairman Alliraja Subhaskaran on his birthday, the production house tweeted, “Wishing our chairman Alliraja Subhaskaran a very happy birthday! Golden Era will hit the big screen on 30th September!”

The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical novel of the same name, which was published in Tamil. The novel was initially serialized in the weekly issue of Kalki from 29 October 1950 to 16 May 1954, and was then published in five volumes as a book in 1955. It revolves around the early life of Prince Arulmozhi Varman, who later moved on. The great king is known as King Chozhan.

Dubbed as his dream project by Mani Ratnam, the film stars several top stars including actors Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Parthiban, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prabhu and Prakash Raj. This project will be the costliest project in the country till date.

The film is best in the business of handling each of its departments. AR Rahman is composing the music for this epic historical and the cinematography is done by Ravi Varman. National Award winning art director Thotta Tharani is in charge of production design while Mani Ratnam’s trusted editor Sreekar Prasad is handling the editing.
