In a bizarre incident, a man and his two wives decided to live with him in two different houses, one for 3 days of the week and the other for the next three days, spending Sundays with any woman of his choice. Got a chance to Agency PTI. However, counselor and advocate Harish Dewan termed the ‘agreement’ between the two as illegal according to Hindu law.

Dewan said the story of two women and a man, who is an engineer, came to light after the man remarried a female colleague in Gurugram after leaving his wife in Gwalior during the COVID-19 pandemic . His first marriage was to a woman from Gwalior in 2018 and they lived together for two years. He said that during Kovid he sent his wife to her maternal home and went back to Gurugram.

When he didn’t return till 2020 to pick up his legally wedded wife, she got suspicious and went to his Gurugram office. Dewan said that he came to know that she had married a colleague and a girl child was also born in the process.

The woman publicly fought with the man and protested in the office over his second marriage. Then she approached a family court in Gwalior for justice, he said. Later her husband was summoned to Gwalior. Diwan said that despite attempts to persuade, the man refused to drop the other woman.

He said that his wife and another woman were also counseled but they were not ready to understand. Later, Diwan said, the three entered into an agreement, according to which the man would spend three days a week with his wife and the other three with the woman he had allegedly married, spending Sundays with the woman of his choice. with the freedom of

Diwan said he provided a flat each to his wife and another woman in Gurugram and also agreed to share his salary equally with them as per the agreement. Asked whether the agreement had any legal validity, Diwan said, “The agreement was made with mutual consent between the three of them. Neither the family court nor the councilor has any role in this.

“In fact, all three were categorically told that they are Hindus and as per Hindu law, this agreement between them is illegal.

As per the law, a Hindu man cannot marry another woman unless he has legally divorced his first wife, but they decided to go ahead with their agreement,” said Dewan.
