Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Yogendra Singh He said that he had received a call on the dial 112 helpline at around 12 am on Saturday. The caller said that a woman interestwas shot by his brother, SunAfter the controversy over his drinking habit. Singh said, “The caller told us that accused Suraj (21) fled the spot after committing the crime. The woman was declared brought dead after the incident, taken to a nearby hospital.
“Ruchi’s family has claimed that Sooraj returned home in an inebriated state on Friday evening and vomited several times. Ruchi, they told us, used to frequently scold her for habitually drinking, and on Friday nights too, used to scold her. There was reportedly a heated argument over this. Enraged, Sooraj allegedly fired a gun and shot Ruchi,” the ACP said.
The 21-year-old was arrested from Shahberi area Greater Noida After a tip-off on Saturday afternoon. He was booked under IPC section 302 (murder) and relevant sections of the Arms Act. “We have recovered a 32 bore country-made pistol, along with one live cartridge and two magazines. Sooraj was produced in a court and sent to judicial custody,” the official said.
