Thiruvananthapuram: fast track court A man was on Wednesday sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl in cases related to sexual offenses against women and children here. Fast Track Judge R Jayakrishnan also imposed a fine of Rs 88,000 on Arun. Failure to waive the fine will result in the sentence being extended for another 30 months.
This crime related to the case took place on May 1, 2019. The accused had gone to the victim’s house House When his parents were not present and dragged him to a shed behind the house and committed the crime. He also attacked the girl’s 15-year-old brother, when the latter tried to save his sister. After this the boy ran to the neighbors for help, but after listening to the neighbors, the accused escaped from the house. The girl was hurt by the experience that she locked herself inside the bathroom and refused to open the door even after neighbors assured her to come out.
Later the accused was arrested museum police. Lawyer RS Vijay MohanThe Special Public Prosecutor said that the accused later attacked the girl’s father to file a complaint. He also threatened key witnesses in the case.
The court sentenced the accused to a total of 33 years of imprisonment under various charges. This includes rigorous imprisonment of 20 years under section 6 of the POCSO Act and seven years of RI under sections 9(n) and 10 of the POCSO Act. Other charges before him were criminal trespass and wrongful imprisonment. Indian Penal Code For which he was sentenced to five years and one year imprisonment respectively. The judge said that all the sentences can be awarded together.
