Thiruvananthapuram: fast track court A man was on Wednesday sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl in cases related to sexual offenses against women and children here. He also attacked the girl’s 15-year-old brother, when the latter tried to save his sister. After this the boy ran to the neighbors for help, but after listening to the neighbors, the accused escaped from the house. The girl was hurt by the experience that she locked herself inside the bathroom and refused to open the door even after neighbors assured her to come out.

The court sentenced the accused to a total of 33 years of imprisonment under various charges. This includes rigorous imprisonment of 20 years under section 6 of the POCSO Act and seven years of RI under sections 9(n) and 10 of the POCSO Act. Other charges before him were criminal trespass and wrongful imprisonment. Indian Penal Code For which he was sentenced to five years and one year imprisonment respectively. The judge said that all the sentences can be awarded together.
