At a press release event in Chennai, Custody director Venkat Prabhu shared that he got the idea for the film and wrote its script after watching the Malayalam film Nayattu.

As a result, people started considering Custody as a remake of the Malayalam film. A social media user claimed that Venkat Prabhu’s film is inspired by the Malayalam film Nayattu. To which the director replied, “It is not true brother.” He further said that his words were misinterpreted and advised the person to watch the film before jumping to any conclusions.

At the press event, the director also claimed that fans will have a different experience after watching Custody. The film follows the story of a respected police officer named Shiva, played by Naga Chaitanya. He is assigned the task of defending a criminal against his adversaries. Priyamani, Sampath Raj, Premgi, Vennela Kishore and Premi Vishwanath also play prominent roles.

Venkat Prabhu is confident of the film’s success. He recently claimed that Custody is an action thriller which the audience will undoubtedly enjoy. According to the director, the film will also highlight some real-life situations, which will make it entertaining to watch.

At the press meet, Naga Chaitanya also shared his views and claimed that he and his brother Akhil Akkineni haven’t had much success in the past. However, the actor said that he is sure that custody will put an end to the bad streak.
