Mamta Banerjee reached Goa to raise slogans of Jai Shri Ram. Goa News – Times of India

Panaji/Vasco: Chief Minister of Bengal Mamata Banerjee landed in Goa on Thursday as part of her maiden visit to the state TMC Announced that she is contesting the 2022 state assembly elections.
During her three-day visit, Banerjee is expected to interact with the party’s local unit, community members and interact with local politicians.
Banerjee was received by TMC national vice president and former Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro and Sangum Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar.
Saffron groups at the airport waved black flags and raised slogans of ‘Long live Rama‘ to protest the arrival of Banerjee. The groups also broke the police cordon set up during the protest.
Along with Banerjee’s visit, tourism hoardings of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ have been put up across the state, reminiscent of similar slogans raised during the bitter Bengal elections. The BJP had used the slogan to anger Banerjee, but the state BJP unit has denied its involvement.
Meanwhile, former MLA Lavu Mamledar condemned the activists for removing and destroying the posters put up by the TMC. “There are video clips and pictures of TMC posters being torn, painted. This is the first time we have seen so much hate. Why is there such bitterness and hatred now? It is clear that they are scared of TMC since the chargesheet issued by us. They have no answer,” said the Mamledar.
Banerjee will meet the local TMC unit at the Goa International Center on Friday at 10 am, after which she will travel to Betim at 12 noon to meet the fishermen. Later in the afternoon, the Bengal Chief Minister will visit some religious places in Goa and then return to the ICG for a meeting with civil society members.
The TMC said that by removing the banners across the state, the BJP has proved that the law and order situation in Goa is bad. “It is too bad. No one will ever destroy posters and write some disgusting things. They want to make Goa UP, it seems,” said Jayesh Shetgaonkar.
