Mamata Banerjee becomes the Speaker of Trinamool’s Parliament

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs on Friday unanimously elected party supremo Mamata Banerjee, who is also the Chief Minister of West Bengal, as the president of their parliamentary party. Announcing this at a press conference in Delhi, Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien said she has been the guiding force behind the TMC parliamentary party for a long time.

She said, “We are just formalizing a reality. Our Speaker is a seven-time Member of Parliament. She has the vision to guide the parliamentary party. She has experience and insight. She was guiding us anyway.” “

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader said the decision has been taken both at the ideological and strategic level.

“She’s always been a call away. We feel more empowered,” O’Brien said.

He also said that all the TMC MPs unanimously elected Banerjee as their leader. Banerjee is not a Member of Parliament.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that she would meet President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders during her Delhi visit next week.

Mamata Banerjee said, “I will go to (Delhi) for 2-3 days. I have been given an appointment to meet the President, Prime Minister, I will meet him. I have also received requests from political leaders. I will try to accommodate.” ” Said.
