Malala Yousafzai marries Aser Malik: Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and other celebs wish the couple

New Delhi: Nobel laureate and women’s rights advocate Malala Yousafzai married Asar Malik in a private ceremony at their home in Birmingham, UK. As the 24-year-old shared the news on his social media handle, wishes poured in from various celebrities across the world. Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Reese Witherspoon, Lily Singh, Mira Sethi and Melinda Gates are some of the celebrities who wished the newlyweds. ,

“Today is a precious day in my life. Asar and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We had a small nikah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayer. We are excited to be walking together for the journey ahead,” wrote Malala in her Instagram post. She can be seen wearing a light pink colored gharara for her D-Day. The groom Aser was wearing a pointed black suit.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Priyanka wrote, “Congratulations @Malala Wishing you lots of happiness and joy… you are an absolute sight.” Katrina Kaif simply wrote ‘Congratulations’ in the comment section of Malala’s post.

YouTuber Lily Singh wrote, “Congratulations!!!!” With three red hearts emoji. Reese Witherspoon congratulates Malala for this ‘wonderful moment’. Billionaire Bill Gates’ ex-wife and philanthropist Melinda Gates commented, “Congratulations! So happy for both of you.”

Various Pakistani celebrities like Mira Sethi, Meesha Shafi, Aima Baig and others also congratulated Malala. Pakistani influencer and the girl behind the viral ‘Pawri ho rahi hai’ meme commented, “OMG MASHAALLAH! Congratulations”.

Young fellow activists also commented on the post. India’s Gurmehar Kaur and Sweden’s Greta Thunberg also sent their best wishes to the Nobel laureate.

Malala Yousafzai is the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize – which she received at the age of 17. In 2012, the Taliban shot him in the head at the age of 15 for going to school. She survived the assassination attempt and has spoken out about women’s rights ever since.

Malaal’s husband Asar Malik is the ‘High Performance General Manager of the Pakistan Cricket Board’.
