Development in Afghanistan has significant implications for the region: Ajit Doval at NSA meeting

New Delhi: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Wednesday chaired the eight-nation security talks regarding the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. In the meeting, he said that the recent developments in Afghanistan have important implications not only for the Afghan people but also for its neighbors and the region.

Calling for closer consultation, greater cooperation and coordination within regional nations on the issue of Afghanistan, NSA Doval said, “We are meeting today to discuss matters relating to Afghanistan. We all look forward to developments in that country.” Looking at it. These are important implications not only for the people of Afghanistan, but also for its neighbors and the region.”

According to a PTI report, the security chiefs of Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are participating in the Delhi regional security talks on the Afghanistan crisis.

India is organizing the conference to seek regional cooperation to counter threats such as terrorism, drug trafficking, radicalization after the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan.

“I am confident that our deliberations will be productive, fruitful and contribute to helping people in Afghanistan and enhancing our collective security,” Doval was quoted as saying by PTI in his report.

In his address, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Petrushev said, “Multilateral meetings help to discuss issues related to the development situation in Afghanistan; Face the challenges, counter the threats emanating from the country and establish lasting peace in the country.”

Expressing concern over the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan National Security Committee Chairman Karim Massimov said, “We are concerned about the current situation in Afghanistan. The socio-economic condition of the Afghans is deteriorating and the country is facing a humanitarian crisis. It is necessary to increase humanitarian aid.”

He further said, “The situation inside the country has remained complicated since the Taliban movement came to power. There are many obstacles in forming an effective government. Terrorist organizations are intensifying the activities.”

Referring to the importance of the NSA-level meeting in New Delhi, “This meeting gives us an opportunity to find a solution to the current situation in Afghanistan and to establish peace in the region,” said Charimirat Amanov, Secretary of the Security Council of Turkmenistan.

Uzbekistan’s Security Council Secretary Viktor Makhmudov said: “To restore complete peace in Afghanistan and the region, we must find a collective solution. This is possible only through joint efforts.”
