Malaika Arora shows how yoga can be fun with a stick

Malaika Arora is no less than a fitness icon for many who are inspired by her massive figure and her Instagram feed is proof of that. She regularly shares pictures and videos of her training regime, and inspires her fans to grab those yoga mats through her posts. In her latest post, Malaika will surely blow you away your first Monday blues by inspiring you with her latest yoga asanas which had a fun twist. Asan was the first entry in Malaika’s Move of the Year series for 2022. It consisted of a main strong posture but also included a stick in the form of a stick.

Malaika changed the posture known as Parivrtta Trikonasana or Revolved Triangle Pose to incorporate a wooden stick into the regime. In her caption, she said that core strengthening postures like Trikonasana were her favorite and she loved adding some fun to these poses.

At the end of the post, Malaika also detailed the process of doing the asana in a step by step format. However, he cautioned people with back or neck injuries to avoid it. So if you’re battling the after-effects of the weekend around New Year’s and are up for some challenge, here’s how to do Parivrtta Trikonasana with a stick.

  • Starting at the center of the mat, stand perpendicular to the ground with your spine straight.
  • After placing the stick over your shoulders, make sure you move your arms around the stick to make a T shape with your body.
  • Feet should be spaced 3-4 inches apart. The right foot should be bent to the right and the left toes should be at a 45 degree angle.
  • Keep your chest open, your torso in front and your shoulders back. As you inhale, twist your torso to the right.
  • As you exhale, bend down while taking the left corner of the stick to the right.
  • Drop the edge of the stick on the outside edge of your right foot.
  • Gaze at the right palm.
  • Stay in this posture for 10 seconds.
  • Repeat the steps on the other side as well.
