Summer is here and many people are packing their bags and traveling to nice places. In the last two years, COVID-19 has made people believe in their homes and ruined a lot of travel plans.

However, now with the decline in cases, people are resorting to international flights to explore the world. Just when we thought everything was going well, a new form of coronavirus may take away our happiness once more. Before planning your international travel, check out the list of countries where cases are peaking again.

United Kingdom

If you are planning to travel to United Kingdom, you should know that a new COVID variant has been discovered in the country. According to the latest report from the World Health Organization (WHO), a mutant called Xe has been found in the UK and this is worrying as the mutant is more transmitted than any other variant of the virus. The WHO said on Saturday that “early day estimates indicate a community growth rate advantage of 10 percent compared to BA.2.” The first case of the XE variant was detected on 19 January, the UK Health Agency reported, adding that more than 63 cases of this variant have been reported so far.

South Korea

Korean fever has engulfed the whole world. People are going crazy for K-drama, K-fashion, K-stars, Korean beauty regime and what not. This has made South Korea a famous travel destination. After seeing a decline in the cases, now the cases of COVID-19 are increasing again in the country. In the third week of March, South Korea diagnosed more than six lakh new corona cases in the country. There has been a tremendous increase in the numbers since February and around 70 lakh cases have been reported since the second month.

France

The beautiful country offers a view of the Eiffel Tower, one of the most spectacular monuments in the world. One of the favorite places of tourists is famous for its fashion, food and rich culture. Hospitalizations have decreased but new cases continue to weigh on the number of cases in France. Last week, the country saw the highest number of cases since February.

Italy

Rome, the capital of Italy, attracts millions of tourists every year. The country has suffered very badly since the onset of COVID-19. Now the cases are increasing again due to which the country has decided not to renew its state of emergency. Italy is reporting around 70,000 cases every day, making it unfit for tourists.

Hong Kong

A city where skyscrapers meet centuries-old temples, Hong Kong should also be left off your travel wish list, as the Asian island saw nearly 20,000 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. Hong Kong is popular for its Causeway Bay, The Peak and Hong Kong Disneyland. But unfortunately, in recent weeks the densely populated region has recorded the highest number of deaths per million people globally.

Germany

Despite seeing a record high fresh confirmed cases, the German government over the weekend defended its decision to end many of its pandemic restrictions. In the last 24 hours, the European country reported 294,931 fresh cases. Apart from this, there have been reportedly 278 COVID related deaths. Germany is known for the beautiful The Rhine Valley, which has also been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
