Main Hindu Petitioner To Withdraw From Gyanvapi Mosque Case Over ‘Alleged Harassment’

Varanasi: Vishwa Vedic Sanatan Sangha chief Jitendra Singh Vishen, one of the main litigants on the Hindu side, has announced that he and his family are withdrawing from all cases related to the Gyanvapi mosque due to alleged “harassment”. Vishan said he is returning as “lead counsel” for Rakhi Singh, one of the five Hindu women in the Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi case in Varanasi. Wishen said he made the decision due to a lack of resources needed to fight the case and “harassment by anti-religious people”.

He has not yet filed any application regarding his decision in the court.

Five Hindu women – Rakhi Singh, Manju Vyas, Rekha Pathak, Seeta Sahu, and Lakshami Devi – filed the Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi case in the court of the civil judge (senior division) Varanasi, in August 2021. The plaintiffs sought the right of daily worship at Maa Shringar Gauri Sthal in Gyanvapi mosque complex.

Vishen said, “I have decided to withdraw myself and my family members from defending all the cases filed in various courts in the interest of the country and religion. My niece Rakhi Singh along with four women filed the suit : Rakhi Singh & Ors. Vs. State of UP & Ors. seeking permission for daily worship at Maa Shringar Gauri Sthal, and I am associated as lead counsel with it.My wife Kiran Singh (lit.) of Lord Adi Vishweshwar Virajman Fast-track court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) in May 2022 as next mate.”

While Vishan was pleading the Shringar Gauri case on behalf of Rakhi Singh, his wife Kiran Singh had filed a case seeking permission for daily worship of Adi Vishweshwar Virajman in the Gyanvapi Masjid premises.

“Ever since these cases were filed, my family members and I are being harassed by anti-religious people against Hinduism. These people are trying to declare us as ‘gadar’ (traitors). Besides, the society is also standing by it.” forces,” said Vishan.

He also said, “A few months ago, I sold my car to arrange the necessary funds to fight the cases. But now I have very limited resources and strength due to which I cannot pursue cases anymore. My The family members and I have decided to withdraw from litigation in these matters.”

Vishen’s lawyer Shivam Gaur has also announced his withdrawal from the cases. Meanwhile, Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, counsel for the Hindu parties, said, “Jitendra Singh Vishan has announced his withdrawal from the case in the media. He posted about it on social media. Vishan is involved in litigation relating to several high-profile cases such as the Gyanvapi Masjid, the Idgah Masjid in Mathura and the Taj Mahal.
