Maharashtra government allowed 25 percent spectators in IPL

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government has approved full vaccination of 25 per cent of the stadium’s capacity to spectators for the upcoming Indian Premier League matches to be held in Mumbai and Pune from March 26. In an official statement issued here in the evening, the state government said that given that there has been a decline in the COVID-19 cases, the crowd limit has been kept at 25 per cent and only fully vaccinated spectators are allowed in the stadium. will be allowed to enter.

This comes as the Maharashtra government on Wednesday held a meeting with the BCCI and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for smooth conduct of the IPL, which is now a 10-team affair. The meeting was attended by state government ministers – Aaditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde – MCA chief Vijay Patil and Apex Council members Ajinkya Naik and Abhay Hadap, along with treasurer Jagdish Achrekar.

After the meeting, in a series of tweets, Aaditya Thackeray said, “To ensure the smooth flow of @IPL, Minister @mieknathshinde ji and I along with officials of Mumbai Police and Municipal Corporations of IPL, @BCCI The meeting was held, Thane, Navi Mumbai.” He also said that the deputy chief minister of the state would soon hold a similar meeting for Pune, which is the other venue for the IPL. “For Pune, the meeting will be held soon, it It is proposed to be headed by DCM Sir to ensure that the tournament has been successfully completed at all the venues of our city, said Aaditya, son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

“The upcoming IPL in Maharashtra ensures that games are not played overseas. This is a huge boost for the country as well as Maharashtra in terms of economy, morale and passion of cricket fans.” Earlier, it was revealed that IPL teams will start training in the city from March 14 or 15 and from March 5. Practice venues have been identified for them. It is understood that the MCA Ground in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex, MCA Ground in Thane, Dr. D.Y. Patil University Ground and an association with CCI (Cricket Club of India) and Reliance Corporate. The football pitch Park Ground in Ghansoli has been identified by the authorities as the practice venues for the cash-rich tournament.

Players are likely to arrive in the city from March 8. It is also understood that all the participants will have to undergo RT-PCR test 48 hours before their arrival in Mumbai. Players will also have to go through a 3-5-day quarantine before entering their respective bubbles.

In isolation, the participants will undergo RT PCR test in the room thrice – first day one, second day three and last day five. In case of three-day quarantine, the participants will be tested daily and if the results of all three are negative, they will be allowed to exit the quarantine and resume team activities.

It is also understood that all the participants/personnel associated with the conduct of IPL (Bubble/Non Bubble) shall undergo RT PCR test every three to five days during the entire duration of the tournament. While 10 luxurious hotels have been identified in Mumbai, two hotels have been zeroed in for Pune.

It is also learned that teams will reach practice or match venues through a special “green corridor” and will be allowed to use the Eastern Freeway to travel from South Mumbai to Navi Mumbai or Thane. Civic officials have also been asked to “beautify” the cities where the games are taking place.

The league phase of the IPL will be held in Mumbai and Pune. While the Wankhede Stadium and the Cricket Club of India will host 20 matches each, the DY Patil Stadium and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Pune will host 15 games.

It is learned that double headers will be played for 12 days.
