Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil has hinted at a possible alliance of his party with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena in the future. In a recent press conference in Pune, Patil said that there may be an alliance with MNS in future. But he clarified that the final decision in this regard will be taken by the top leadership of the party.

Rumors of a BJP-MNS alliance have gained momentum in the state after Patil’s meeting with MNS chief Raj Thackeray on July 18.

However, a few days back, former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had openly declared that ‘there is no question of an alliance with the MNS’ unless he changes his stance of harsh regional fundamentalism. . Fadnavis said the MNS does not “soften its approach” as long as it comes to outsiders, especially North Indians.

Responding to Fadnavis on the issue of anti-immigrant stance, Raj Thackeray said the stand of the MNS was that immigrants should not encroach upon the land of ‘bhoomiputras’, or vice versa. He also denied sending video clips of his speeches to Chandrakant Patil.

The MNS and the BJP formed an alliance which was in power in the Nashik Municipal Corporation from 2012 to 2017. In the last election, the vote share of the BJP increased, while that of the MNS decreased to five from the previous forty.
