Five people drowned at Mumbai’s Juhu beach on Monday, out of which 1 was rescued by locals, while 4 are still missing, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said.

According to sources, 5 people had gone for a walk on the Juhu beach when the heavy tide drowned them.

Mumbai is currently facing the effects of Cyclone Biparjoy which is running parallel to it in the Arabian Sea. The impact of the cyclone on the capital of Maharashtra is slowly becoming clear. The coastal city, which has been facing windy conditions since the beginning of the weekend, is likely to witness strong winds and scattered rain over the next day or two.
