This yatra celebrates the marriage of Shiva and Parvati and is attended by thousands of devotees every year.

Every year thousands of devotees along with kanwariyas gather at Shikhar Shingnapur in Maharashtra, following an ancient tradition to worship Lord Shiva.

Shikhar Shingnapur is 90 km from Satara in the east. The journey to this religious place begins on the day of Gudi festival. Apart from the devotees coming from Maharashtra, a large number of people also come from Andhra Pradesh. Karnataka and other states.

This yatra celebrates the marriage of Shiva and Parvati. On the eve of Gudi Padwa, the ritual of applying turmeric to the idol of Shiva is performed and on the fifth day (Panchami) of Chaitra, the marriage of Mahadev and Parvati is celebrated.

Kanwariyas from different villages form a human chain in which thousands of Kanwariyas participate. Their kanwariyas are decorated with flags and draped in colorful clothes.

After these kanwariyas reach the fort, they sing and dance and thus reach the temple. ‘Telyabhootachi’ Kavad was the last Kavad to reach the temple from Saswad. Devotees worship Lord Mahadev with the water of five rivers and Abhishekam is performed with this water. After this the journey ends.

As per tradition, Kanwar reached the temple late at night. People carried him on their shoulders and brought him to the temple of Mahadev. Mahadev was anointed with the water of five rivers. The whole celebration was spectacular and very colourful.
