Lollapalooza in India: The famous festival ‘Lollapalooza’ began in Mumbai on Saturday, with 40 global artistes and bands set to perform on four stages over the next two days. The highlights of the first day included 20 songs including Radioactive, Demons, It’s Time, Bones and Bad Liar by Imagine Dragons, whose lead singer Dan Reynolds praised the warmth of India’s people as well as its food.

Reynolds, who waved the tricolor as the crowd parted through the band’s 90-minute performance, said, “This is just the first of many more shows to come in India”.

Saba Azad took to the stage as part of Madboy Mink, while indie pop band Japanese Breakfast, led by musician Michelle Zauner, also performed.

Indo-Canadian Punjabi singer AP Dhillon enthralled the audience with his hit songs like Woh Noor, Toxic, Brown Munde, got the loudest applause for ‘Tareef’, during which he also played guitar. “That’s why we make music, it brings us together,” Dhillon said in between their stage performances.

Fans of Punjabi synth-pop sensation AP Dhillon were in for a surprise besides a spectacular show in Mumbai on Saturday as the ‘Brown Munde’ hitmaker hurled a ukulele at the crowd. He achieved this feat during his performance at the BudEx stage at the ongoing Lollapalooza India Fest in Mumbai.

The Gurdaspur-born Indo-Canadian singer, who has given hits like ‘Excuse’ and ‘Summer High’, took the stage with his collaborator and rapper, Shinda Kahlon. As Dhillon sang the track ‘Tere Te’ from his album ‘Hidden Gems’, while strumming his ukulele to a crowd filled with his impressive stage presence, he slowly finished the song softening on the vocal. Bands and artists performing included The Yellow Diaries, Japanese Breakfast, Great Van Fleet, Abhi Mir, Tracy De Sa. Lollapalooza has traveled to seven locations in the world over the past 31 years.
