The elections will be held in seven phases, with the first on April 19, the second on April 26, the third on May 7, the fourth on May 13, the fifth on May 20, the sixth on May 25, and the seventh on June 1

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Saturday said the Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases beginning from April 19 and results will be announced on June 4.

There are 97.8 crore eligible voters of which 49.72 crore are male voters and 47.1 crore are female voters. As many as 1.5 crore polling officials have been deployed for 10.5 lakh polling stations. Over 55 lakh EVMs will be used.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, voting was held in seven phases. There were a total of 91.2 crore eligible voters with about 43.8 crore female voters and nearly 47.3 crore male voters.

The elections will be held in seven phases, with the first on April 19, the second on April 26, the third on May 7, the fourth on May 13, the fifth on May 20, the sixth on May 25, and the seventh on June 1.

  • Polling in 2 phases: Karnataka, Manipur, Rajasthan, Tripura
  • Polling in 3 phases: Assam, Chhattisgarh
  • Polling in 4 phases: Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha
  • Polling in 5 phases: Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir
  • Polling in 7 phases: Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal

Phase 1

The first phase of elections is set for April 19, with the deadline for candidate nominations being March 27. These elections will span across 21 States and Union Territories.

In the first phase, around 10 states and union territories will be covered fully.

Phase 2

Following this, the second phase of elections will commence on April 26, with the nomination deadline on April 4.

This phase will cover 13 states and union Territories.

Phase 3

Moving on to the third phase, elections are scheduled for May 7, and the nomination deadline is April 20. This phase will also cover 12 states and union territories.

Phase 4

The fourth phase of elections will be held on May 13, with the nomination deadline on April 25, covering 10 States and Union Territories.

Phase 5

The fifth phase is set for May 20, with the nomination deadline on May 3 and covering 8 States and Union Territories.

Phase 6

On May 25, the sixth phase of elections will take place, with the nomination deadline on May 6, spanning across 7 States and Union Territories.

Phase 7

Finally, the seventh phase of elections is scheduled for June 1, with the nomination deadline on May 14, covering 8 States and Union Territories.

In the first phase, polling will occur in 102 constituencies, while the second phase will see 89 constituencies going to polls. The following phases will witness polling in 94, 96, 49, 57, and 57 constituencies, respectively.
