SRINAGAR: A 19-year-old terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s The Resistance Force (TRF) was killed in a shootout with a combined team of J&K police and army at awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
Sources said the slain teenager Irfan Ahmad Sheikh from Karemabad in Pulwama had been “missing” since January 17, arousing suspicion that he had joined an outfit.
A police spokesperson said Irfan was hiding at Awantipora’s Numble and fired at the approaching security team. Counter-fire cut him down. “He was with LeT/TRF,” the officer said. “He was involved in several attacks on security forces.”
The teen provided logistic support to terrorists operating in the area before becoming a full-time member of the banned Pakistan-based outfit, the officer said. “Arms and Ammunition were found at the shootout site.”
Police reported another terrorist attack in the evening when a grenade was thrown towards a Sashastra Seema Bal ,SSB) pillbox in the Chapargung area of ​​central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The guards on duty were unharmed as the grenade missed the target and exploded on the road.
