Leopard kills 14 sheep in Chikkaballapur village. Hubli News – Times of India

CHIKKABALLAPUR : 14 sheep killed when two leopards attacked two sheep’s enclosure Yelodu in the village Gudiband Taluk of Chikkaballapur district in the early hours of Thursday.
Leopards attacked Siva Reddy’s enclosure around 2 pm. Among them were about 20 sheep and one goat.
According to Tehsildar sibgath ullahThe village is situated on the edge of dense forest and hilly area. Some villagers in the neighborhood around 11 o’clock on Wednesday night Andra Pradesh Saw some leopards, which were being driven away by stray dogs. The big cats have fled and are suspected of coming to Yellowdu. Reddy has 35 sheep and had kept them in three sheds with huge logs of wood at their entrance. It is suspected that the leopards tried to jump on the woods to enter the enclosure. Later they climbed onto the roof of the neighbor’s house and jumped into the herd.
Hearing the sound of the goat bursting, Reddy’s wife got up and ran. Seeing the leopards, he threw sticks of wood at them and they fled. While the leopards killed 14 sheep, six more were injured and treated at the hospital. There was no injury to the goat.
The Tehsildar said Reddy has suffered an estimated loss of Rs 1 lakh and will be compensated.
