Leopard Dies of Mental Shock After Getting Trapped in Chicken Coop in Kerala’s Palakkad

Palakkad (Kerala): a Leopard He died after getting entangled in the net of a chicken coop on Friday night in Mekalapara area of ​​Palakkad, Kerala. The incident was informed to the forest officials and they reached the spot and removed the leopard’s carcass. Philip, the owner of the house where the incident took place, said, “I heard noises from the chicken coop at night. When I came out, I saw a panther hanging in the chicken coop.”

“There were about 100 chickens in the door and his hand got stuck,” he said. Philip claimed that such incidents have become increasingly common in the area recently. “My cow was killed about 10 years ago and recently four goats of a man were killed,” he claimed.

According to forest officials, the injury on the leopard’s leg is not serious. However, the animal died of mental shock after getting its leg stuck in the enclosure. Forest officials said nothing suspicious has been reported. The leopard’s body has been sent for postmortem.

Doctor Arun Zakaria, who did the postmortem of the leopard, told that the leopard died due to catching myopathy.

“Death is due to capture myopathy. Samples have been sent for toxicology test and final report will be prepared based on the result. Preliminarily capture myopathy condition is the cause of death. Effect on muscular organs due to hanging The leopard suffered a fracture in its right hand. Our impression is that it was aged between 3 and 4 years. A tooth was also missing.”
