The Taliban announced Mohammad Hassan Akhund as the caretaker prime minister of Afghanistan, while Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar would serve as his deputy. Sirajuddin Haqqani, son of the founder of the Haqqani network, will be the new home minister, while Mullah Omar’s son Mullah Mohammad Yacoub will be the new defense minister.
