Lata Mangeshkar Health Update: ‘It will take time to recover from old age’, says doctors

New Delhi: In a new health update about legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, her doctor on Monday shared that the megastar is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and her health is being monitored.

Dr Pratima Samdani, who is treating the Bharat Ratna recipient at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, also revealed with the update that “he will take time to recover due to his old age.”

The condition of the veteran singer has improved in the last few days. Doctors had said earlier on Sunday that his condition had worsened. He also urged everyone to pray for the ‘Queen of Melody’.

A few days back, Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia. She came in contact with one of her staff members, who was also COVID-19 positive.

After learning about Lata Mangeshkar’s health, many fans and members from the film industry and other sectors took to social media to wish her a speedy recovery. Veteran actor and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to wish the singer a speedy recovery. He wrote, “Praying for your speedy recovery.”

The singer was hospitalized in 2019 for severe lung disease and pneumonia.

In a career spanning over seven decades, the legendary singer proudly known as the ‘Nightingale of India’ has over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages. Starting his career in 1942 at the age of 13, he made a mark with his melodious voice.
