On Thursday morning, his nephew Adinath has flown the ashes from the urn into the river according to the entire religious custom.
The ashes of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar were immersed in the holy Godavari river of Nashik on Thursday. During this his entire family was present in Nashik. To bid farewell to Swar Kokila, the Nashik district administration had organized a grand event on the banks of the Godavari river.
Lataji died on 6 February at the age of 92. Lata didi was cremated at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. His ashes were deposited in three urns from Shivaji Park in Mumbai. On Sunday, Adinath reached Lata Mangeshkar’s residence ‘Prabhu Kunj’ with the ashes. On Thursday morning, his nephew Adinath has flown the ashes from the urn into the river according to the entire religious custom. During this his entire family was present here.
Nashik district administration had organized a grand event for this immersion program.
UP CM will also be involved in the immersion program
The first will be immersed at Ramkund in Nashik and the other two will be flown in Haridwar and Varanasi. It is believed that UP CM Adityanath will also be present in the immersion program to be held in Varanasi.
Many local leaders of Nashik also participated in this bone immersion program.
Brother Hridaynath had given the fire
Let us tell that Lataji was lit by his brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Lata Mangeshkar was the eldest of 5 siblings. All the people in his family are associated with the world of music. Lata Mangeshkar’s father Dinanath Mangeshkar was an accomplished artist and singer of Marathi theatre. Dinanath’s wife’s name was Sevanti. They had 5 children, the eldest of whom was Lata Mangeshkar. He is followed by Meena Khadikar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and youngest Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Lata Mangeshkar’s father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar died in 1942. At that time Lata Mangeshkar was only 13 years old.
A grand rangoli was made in memory of Lata Tai outside Ram Kund in Nashik.
There is a constant demand to make Shivaji Park a memorial place
The BJP, in a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been continuously demanding that the place where Lata Mangeshkar was cremated at Shivaji Park should be made a memorial site. BJP MLA Ram Kadam, who raised such a demand, has also accused the Thackeray government of neglecting Lata didi.
