Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was earlier called for questioning on March 4, but he did not appear before the CBI, following which a new date has now been given for Saturday, officials said.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was on Saturday summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning in connection with the alleged ‘land for job’ scam, according to officials.

Officials said that Yadav was earlier called for questioning on March 4, but he did not appear before the CBI, after which a new date has now been given for Saturday.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader has not yet turned up for the questioning to be held this morning.

The summons comes after the federal agency recently questioned Tejashwi’s parents – RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi – in Delhi and Patna respectively.

According to officials, the case pertains to the alleged offering of jobs in the Railways to the Yadav family and its associates in lieu of land gifted or sold at throwaway rates.

Several ED raids on Friday

Tejashwi’s CBI summons comes a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids in several cities on Friday, including in a money-laundering probe at the premises of former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughters and several RJD leaders. Land in case of job scam

On 6 March, Lalu Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi was questioned at her residence in Patna, followed by Lalu Prasad at his daughter Misa Bharti’s residence in Delhi the next day.

Though the charge sheet has been filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case, the recent spate of inquiries has been with regard to newly received leads and information received by the CBI in the case.

CBI sources say that during the course of investigation they came to know more about the modus operandi of the scam.

Officials are corroborating complaints that Lalu Yadav had amassed wealth more than the agency’s knowledge in the alleged scam. He was the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009 during the UPA regime.
