Lalu Prasad Yadav: CBI court allows Lalu Prasad to get his passport renewed | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: A CBI court in Patna on Monday granted permission for the passport renewal of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, paving way for him to file another application to seek consent to go abroad (Singapore) for necessary treatment of his kidney ailments.
The 74-year-old Lalu, who has been convicted in fodder scam cases, is on bail and recuperating at the Delhi residence of his daughter and Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti.
Lalu also suffers from diabetes, hypertension and cardiac problems.
Special Judge of the CBI court-III at Patna, Mahesh Kumar, granted the permission for Lalu’s passport renewal as it had lost its validity with the lapse of time.
He is facing trial before the special CBI court-III in the only fodder scam case left in Bihar (RC 64/1996), which pertains to the excess withdrawal from the district treasury of Banka (Bhagalpur).
Lalu got his shoulder fractured after falling at the residential quarter of his wife and former chief minister Rabri Devi here on July 3. His conditions had deteriorated due to kidney ailments and he had to be airlifted to New Delhi for urgent treatment at AIIMS-Delhi, from where he was discharged on July 22. At present, both kidneys of theRJD supremo are damaged (more than 75 per cent), leading to other complications related to liver, heart, lungs, among others.
Lalu wants to consult doctors abroad, especially for his kidney ailments, and urged the court to allow his passport renewal for the purpose.
In fact, he has been consulting with the doctors of Singapore for the last one year.
