On Monday, the police got a big success in the Lakhimpur violence. Sumit Jaiswal, riding in a Thar jeep that crushed the protesting farmers, has been arrested by the police from Lakhimpur. Three others have also been arrested along with him. All of them will be presented in the court on Tuesday.

A video of Sumit also surfaced, in which he was seen running away from the jeep. He had also lodged an FIR of murder against the farmers. In which it was claimed that his driver, friend and two BJP workers were lynched after the incident.

On Monday itself, the police had taken the statements of the accused farmers of the case filed by Sumit. Sumit is very close to Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni and the main accused in the violence.

Sumit was riding in a Thar jeep at the time of the incident.
The SIT has arrested Sumit as well as Nandan, Shishupal and Satya Prakash. Licensed revolver and cartridges have been recovered from Satya Prakash. After the death of the Thar jeep driver and others, it is believed that Sumit Jaiswal is the only eyewitness left in the case.

Earlier, the police had already arrested Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, Ankit Das, nephew of former Union Minister Akhilesh Das, his gunner Latif alias Kale, Shekhar and Ashish Pandey. So far 10 accused have been caught in the Lakhimpur case.

Police have collected 39 video evidences related to the incident. These include from the video of the incident to CCTV footage. Police are still collecting electronic evidence. The police had marked 22 people on the basis of the video and photos of the incident and sent a notice to them, but all these people were still absconding. Even the plaintiff himself was not appearing before the police.

Minister said – the guilty will not be spared
After the Lakhimpur violence, the opposition and farmers’ organizations have been demanding the dismissal and arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni. On Monday, farmers staged rail roko agitation across the country. Opposition parties are also saying that fair investigation is not possible while in office.

Meanwhile, a new statement of Ajay Mishra Teni has come. The incident took place in the presence of police and administrative officials, he said. This is gross negligence. Why was the road allowed to be occupied? Why was the movement of farmers not stopped by putting barricades? Ajay Mishra said that the culprits will not be spared. For this, the government has given a free hand to the investigating agencies. Teni gave this statement on Monday after meeting the relatives of Shyam Sundar Nishad, the deceased in the incident.
