Lakhimpur Kheri violence: UP court frames charges against Union Minister’s son Ashish Mishra, 13 others

Lakhimpur Kheri violence caseA UP court on Tuesday framed charges against Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish, 13 others in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in which 4 farmers were killed, a public prosecutor informed.

The main accused in this case is Ashish Mishra Monu, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra.

District Government Advocate (Criminal) Arvind Tripathi said that Additional District Judge Sunil Kumar Verma has fixed December 16 as the next date of hearing.

On October 3 last year, eight people were killed during violence in Lakhimpur Kheri when farmers were protesting Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to the area.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Police’s FIR, an SUV ran over four farmers, in which Ashish Mishra was sitting.

After the incident, the driver and two BJP workers were allegedly beaten to death by angry farmers.

A journalist was also killed in the violence between opposition parties and farmer groups agitating over the Centre’s now repealed agricultural reform laws.
