Hindu Munnani Group Puts Up Posters of Ambedkar Dressed in Saffron in Tanjavur District

A fresh controversy erupted after Hindu Munnani, a pro-Hindu organisation, put up posters of Ambedkar clad in saffron in several parts of Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. The country celebrated Ambedkar’s 66th death anniversary on Tuesday. However, the protesters tore the poster at several places.

Several political parties, including the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), have raised objections to the posters. News18 has learned that so far no complaint has been registered on the matter, but the VCK is considering doing so and has announced a protest against Ambedkar in saffron colored posters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Also, opposition leaders on Tuesday paid tribute to BR Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution, saying his struggles had given hope to millions.

He along with President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid floral tributes to him in the Parliament complex.

“On Mahaparinirvan Diwas, I pay tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and remember his exemplary service to our nation. Their struggles gave hope to millions and their efforts to give India Such a comprehensive constitution can never be forgotten.

Congress paid tribute

The Congress on Tuesday paid tributes to BR Ambedkar on his death anniversary, with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge saying it was time to reaffirm the ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity and justice that he truly stood for.

Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Chowdhary paid floral tributes to Ambedkar in the Parliament complex.

“‘We are Indians, first and last’ – Babasaheb Dr. BR Ambedkar. On Babasaheb’s Mahaparinirvana Day, it is time to reaffirm the ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity and justice that he rightly upheld Literally supported,” Kharge said in a tweet.
