“Light snowfall and avalanches occur frequently in Khardungla and Changla these days,” the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said in an order.
As a precautionary measure, the administration on Monday ordered closure of the highest motorable passes of Khardungla and Changla in Ladakh after 4 pm and issued frequent avalanche advisories in the areas, officials said.
“Light snowfall and avalanches occur frequently in Khardungla and Changla these days,” the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said in an order.
“In view of this, it is ordered that both the Khardungla and Changla passes shall be closed for vehicular traffic from both the directions after 4 p.m. till further orders.”
The order said that commuters are advised to undertake their journey only after verifying the road condition from the police control room during this period.
