Controversy over educational qualification of political leaders flares up again Karnataka Elections around the corner and a year to go for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. After Arvind Kejriwal and Mahua Moitra, BRS leader KT Rama Rao has accused two BJP MPs from Telangana of possessing ‘fake certificates’.
“It seems we have too many Munnabhai, MBBS types in BJP. 2 BJP MPs from Telangana are also allegedly holders of fake certificates 😄 Fake certificates from Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu universities. Is it not a crime to lie in the election affidavit on the basis of which MPs are elected? Shouldn’t the LS speaker be found out and disqualified if found guilty? (sic),” he tweeted.
This taunt by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s son comes days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Gujarat High Court’s verdict on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree case has ‘rejected claims about his educational qualification’. Suspicion’ has further increased and said that he does not take steps. Like demonetisation if he was educated.

Kejriwal alleged that Gujarat University was not ready to give information about Modi’s degree because of his “arrogance” or because his degree was “fake”.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been targeting the CM of Delhi since then. The saffron party also put up posters outside its Delhi office on Tuesday, which read, ‘Degree to excuse, Kejriwal ko corruption se hatana hai’.

KTR also took a jibe at Modi’s degrees and offered to show him the degrees. “I have a Masters degree in Biotechnology from Pune University. I also have a Masters degree Business in Administration from the City University of New York. Can share both certificates publicly. Just saying,” KTR had tweeted.
Recently, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra also targeted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey for holding a ‘fake MBA degree’ and a ‘sly PhD’. He asked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla whether these reasons could be grounds for terminating Dubey’s Lok Sabha membership.

In 2020, a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed against Dubey in the Jharkhand High Court, seeking directions for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe against the BJP and a high-level probe by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The MP is accused of allegedly submitting a fake degree in his election nomination papers.
