New DelhiRaiganj MLA Krishna Kalyani is set to be the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. In a few days, his name will be officially announced by the Speaker of the Assembly.
He won the assembly elections in 2021 BJP Ticket. But Mukul Roy returned Trinamool After the declaration of election results. Not only this, the Speaker of the Assembly also nominated Krishnanagar North MLA Mukul Roy as the President of the PAC. After that, not only did all the committees of the assembly resign collectively, BJP MLA Ambika Roy had also filed a case in the High Court regarding the PAC dispute. Even a case was registered in the Supreme Court.
But Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee stuck to his decision. He even rejected Mukul Roy’s demand to sack his MLA post after 12 hearings in the assembly. “The petitioner could not produce the kind of evidence that was expected. Mukul Roy is in the BJP,” he claimed. Mukul on Monday resigned from the post of PAC chairman due to ill health.
Who will be the chairman of PAC? Sources said that Raiganj MLA Krishna Kalyani met the Speaker. He has been asked to take over as the chairman of the PAC. The name will be officially announced in a few days. Krishna Kalyani was elected MLA from Raiganj on a BJP ticket in the 2021 elections.
