Kovishield will be given in Kolkata on Monday, may be closed again from Tuesday

On Saturday afternoon 3.57 lakh doses of Covishield reached the state. After that, it was told from Purnima that Kovishield would be given in Kolkata on Monday. However, for the time being it has been informed that the cove shield will be given on Monday only. It has been told that the supply of Kovishield will be stopped indefinitely again from Tuesday due to insufficient supply.

A statement issued by Kolkata Poornima on Sunday said, “One dose of Kovishield will be given to the public on 9th August (Monday). All Kovidshield delivery centers will remain closed indefinitely from 10th August (Tuesday) due to lack of adequate vaccination from the Government of India. The center of Covasin will continue as normal.

The supply of Kovishield in Kolkata was stopped since last Friday due to insufficient supply. Purnima had demanded that on the basis of matching the supply, the coveshield would be given. On Saturday, the president of Poornima’s governing body, Firhad Hakim, complained that the center had failed to provide the vaccine. In such a situation, the hands and feet of the state government or Puranagam are tied. He also said that only the people of Kolkata are getting immunization from Poornima Kendra, not at all. On the contrary, people from some neighboring districts are also getting vaccinated from Kolkata.

A few hours after Firhad’s remarks, 356,240 doses of Covishield arrived in Kolkata on Saturday afternoon. It has been kept in the Central Family Welfare Store located in Baghbazar. Officials from the state health department are hopeful that the coveshield’s famine will subside. However, given the quantity of Kovishield in Kolkata Puranigam’s hand, it is reported that the Seram Institute of India can be given a coronavirus vaccine in a day.
