Kovid related restrictions in West Bengal extended till 15 December

Kolkata: In keeping with the warnings of the World Health Organization (WHO) about the new found coronavirus Variant ‘Omicron’, the West Bengal government on Tuesday extended the ongoing COVID-19 related restrictions till December 15, according to an order.

The decision was taken after reviewing the current situation of the pandemic… The State Executive Committee of the West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority recommended continuation of the existing restrictions and protocols,” the order said.

It added that the restrictions and relaxation measures already in force have been extended till December 15.

The administration banned all outdoor activities, including movement of people and vehicles, between 11 pm and 5 am, except for health services, law and order and essential commodities. The state has already given permission for the movement of local trains. Schools, colleges and universities also opened for some classes from 16 November. The restrictions were first imposed on 16 May.

“Wearing of masks, maintaining physical distance and health and hygiene protocols should be followed at all times,” the order said.
