New Delhi: In the last 48 hours, three foreign nationals tested positive for coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh’s Vrindavan. Their samples were sent for genome sequencing to test the type of virus. Three people are from Lithuania, Spain and Switzerland.
all three foreign nationals , A 30-year-old woman from Lithuania, a 44-year-old Spanish woman and a 47-year-old Swiss man – were Krishna devotees and were living in Girdhar Dham in Vrindavan. Two locals along with three foreigners have also tested positive.
“Foreign nationals from Lithuania, Spain and Switzerland tested positive for coronavirus in the RT-PCR tests conducted before the scheduled departure for their native countries,” said Dr Bhudev, the nodal in-charge of the rapid response team.
He said that Girdhar Dham has been declared as a Containment Zone.

The central government is taking precautions in resuming international flights in view of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. After more than 20 months, the Center had announced the resumption of international flights from December 15.
But with the detection of the Omicron strain, the government has issued new guidelines for international arrivals by creating an ‘at risk’ list and removing exemptions for fully vaccinated passengers.
Countries under the ‘at risk’ list include all countries where the omicron variant has been detected.
The list includes the United Kingdom, across Europe, South Africa, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Israel and Hong Kong, as reported by PTI.
All those coming to or in transit from these countries will have to undergo RT-PCR test on arrival. After the results are out, they will be allowed to leave the airport or board their connecting flights.
If they are found positive with the Omicron variant, they will be taken to a medical facility for isolation. If any other variant is found, further action will be at the discretion of the doctor as per the condition of the patient.
