Kolkata: Hookah bar, cafe raided, 10 arrested Kolkata News – Times of India

Kolkata: Kolkata Police has now started raids on all those commercial establishments which open after 9 pm. Police raided a cafe and a hookah bar in Bhawanipur and arrested 10 people from these two establishments under various sections of the Disaster Management Act and the COTP Act. All police stations have also been directed to conduct special raids to shut down eateries and shops after 9 pm.
Police said that the cafes located on Aston Road and Elgin Road used to serve hookah and food till 4 am. “Three partners of Elgin Road Cafe were arrested. All three are residents of Watganj Street. At Aston Road Cafe, we arrested seven all the managers and employees of the cafe,” said a South Division official. “A good number of hookah bases and flavors were seized from both the places,” said an officer. The accused said that there were no customers at the time of the raid and they were only taking stock of the day’s sales.
As the traffic police continued to prosecute motorists on the road, the number again crossed the five-mark on Wednesday night.
