Chopra said that LSG are not dependent on Rahul this season and suggested that they might tinker with their starting combination in the next match against Punjab Kings.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra feels that Lucknow Supergiants are no longer dependent on KL Rahul with the bat. LSG, who qualified for the play-offs last season, are second on the points table in the current edition. The team has done well so far in the tournament despite the excellent form of their skipper Rahul, who has been in trouble with the bat for the past few months. Rahul has recorded low scores – 8, 20, 35 and 18.

The LSG have done well collectively so far as the likes of Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran stood up when Rahul failed on big occasions.

Chopra said that LSG are not dependent on Rahul this season and suggested that they might tinker with their starting combination in the next match against Punjab Kings.

“Lucknow has come after winning cliffhangers. KL Rahul has not scored any runs so far but no one is counting on him. I see Quinton de Kock playing and Kyle Mayer sitting out in this match,” Chopra said.

At the same time, the cricketer-turned-commentator also said that apart from Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul, the rest of the batsmen have done wonders for Lucknow so far this season.

“Marcus Stoinis has done well. Nicholas Pooran has already done well. Both Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul haven’t done well so far but they have still won three out of their four matches, which means they are in good shape. Ayush Badoni is also playing well,” he added.

Chopra suggests his batting line-up for LSG for the matches ahead.

“So you can see KL Rahul opening with Quinton de Kock. Hooda can come at No.3 once again, Stoinis at No.4, Nicholas Pooran at No.5 and then Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya, that’s your batting order,” Chopra said after the game.

LSG will next take on Punjab Kings and they would be looking to extend their winning streak which will also help them move to the top of the points table.
