Kitchen hacks for proper hair care during winters – Times of India

Winters can be especially harsh on the hair; Hot water takes away all the moisture from the hair and makes them dry and lifeless. Courtesy of beauty guru Dr. Blossom Kochhar Let’s take a look at some quick hacks we can use to bring back the shine of your hair.

1. Mix 1 teaspoon shampoo, castor oil, glycerin and apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Apply the pack on wet hair and scalp. Leave it for 10-20 minutes and wash off with a mild shampoo.

2. Take 1 banana, 1 tsp olive oil and 1 tsp aloe vera gel. Make a thick paste by grinding these three together. Now apply it on the length of your hair and scalp. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes before washing it off.

3. Apply oil to your hair and scalp regularly as winters dry out your scalp and hair. Use warm organic castor oil with 2 drops of lavender and rosemary essential oils and massage into the roots of your hair for better nourishment. Cover your hair with a warm towel to absorb the oil.

4. Hair fall during winters becomes one of the scariest things, wherever you look, you will see your hair strands and this adds to our already stressful life. But I have a remedy that can increase the growth of your hair, the simple solution is rice water. Amino acids and vitamins C, B and E help to strengthen the hair shaft and make it stronger. First of all wash the rice thoroughly with water. Then place the rice in a glass bowl filled with water and soak for two days. This will speed up the natural fermentation process of the rice. After two days, filter the rice and fill it in a glass bottle and keep it in the fridge.

5. Keep your hair clean to combat dandruff. Wash your hair and scalp frequently; This can be daily or every other day depending on how stubborn the dandruff is. Soak two spoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Make a paste of the seeds after getting up in the morning and mix lemon juice in it and apply it on the head. Leave it on for half an hour. Then wash the hair with soap (reetha) or shikakai and water. You can use any herbal shampoo to wash your hair. Do this routine twice a week.

6. Coconut milk is one of the healthiest natural ingredients for healthy hair. The remedy you should try is to mix freshly extracted coconut milk with a squeezed lemon and 4-5 drops of lavender essential oil. Leave it for 4-5 hours and then wash off.
